How
to Handle Your Pet's Remains
Many pet owners never even think about this issue until
their veternarian suddenly asks, "What do you want
to do with the body of your pet when they die?"
Needless
to say, this is not the best time to think rationally and
calmly about what possible options are available and arrive
at a well-thought-out decision. Unfortunately, not planning
in advance will often lead to a hasty decision, made at
the height of painful emotion -- and a decision that we
may later regret.
Pet Cemetery Burial
You'll find pet cemeteries in almost every state; some
states may have several. For many, a formal cemetery burial
pet service seems a more fitting tribute than an informal
"backyard burial".
A pet burial in a pet cemetery will also ensure that your
pet's remains will remain undisturbed, and cared for, "in
perpetuity." You will not have to be concerned or worry
about what will happen to your beloved pet, especially if
you have to leave the property on which your loving pet
is buried; it will be cared for no matter where you go or
what happens to you.
Burial of a pet in a cemetery however can be a costly option,
but many find it a comforting, secure way to handle their
pet's remains. A staff member from the pet cemetery will
usually be able to pick up your pet from your home or from
a veterinarian's office.
If you so desire, you can make arrangements for a complete
pet funeral and memorial service.
